First week in Cape Town

Just a quick hello to let you know all is going well.

Just got internet —if you can imagine me not being connected for almost an entire week — but it was just fine. It had been very hectic but wonderful week of orientation--some practical, some educational, some real touristy --but all quite remarkable. In addition to getting settled into our respective new home and getting ID cards at the the University of Cape Town which took two tries since there was a power outage the first try so they couldn't process the cards.

Students all seem to be adjusting to their new living conditions --a few bumps along the way but hopefully all is now settled. My flat is great, my flat mate has been a tremendous—helping me find things; showing me where to shop; explaining little details like how to get the keys in the locks.

I started to put up this blog before i left and will try to post more details and picutes when i have a minute but right now things are moving at such a hectic pace that I can hardly catch my breath---but it has been great.

So much to tell, so little time.

Yesterday went to the Slave Lodge and District 6 Museum and last night to the Manenberg Jazz Café

Today we went to

Tomorrow we go to Cape Point , Saturday to Robben Island ; Sunday to Guguletu and there has been so much more!!!

(included a few websites just in case you want to “follow us around” South Africa a bit— I have so much to learn!!)

Peace and a world of possibilities,
